By the time January came around, and both Isaac and Felix's birthdays with it, both boys had been to a few birthday parties: at a laser tag arena, a gym, a play center (basically a McDonald's play area on steroids) and a discotheque(!). Almost all the venues provided meals, cake, goody bags for each kid and employees to run activities. The most interesting 'meal' provided by a venue was the chocolate sandwich. Cleary, sugar abounds at the events. All previous birthday parties that I have planned for the boys have been at home, but this year I decided to completely embrace the ease and fun of a party at a venue, and booked them each a party at a bowling alley. |
The party included lunch, cake, a hat, shoe rentals, two games, and a goody bag for each kid, and a Tshirt for the birthday boy. All we had to do is show up. The lunch was no joke- 2 courses (pasta, followed by either chicken nuggets or a hamburger) and it took FOREVER. It was serious Spanish business, and this American mom had a hard time being zen about it. Lunch came before bowling, and one of Isaac's friends had to leave early, so I got a little twitchy when lunch had gone on for an hour. Lesson learned- we probably should have done the bowling first. | All in all though, successful parties. And now we have 4 Bowling Pedrables hats. One for each of us. Perfect for next year's Christmas cards. |
