Rioja and País Basco (Basque Country). 15 minutes after picking up our rental car- and before we had even returned to our apartment to load up kids, grandparents and luggage- we got a flat tire. The old narrow streets in our neighborhood are really quaint when you are getting around on foot, but considerably less so when are driving a mini van. Then you take a corner too sharply, run over a curb and pop a tire. |
November marked our first familial visit and our first road trip in Spain. Tyler's parents, Suzy/Bama and Barry/Mac, came to visit during the last week of November, and we all hit the road to travel to

Last year we started a tradition of making paper leaves and having each person we spend Thanksgiving with fill out a few leaves with some things that they are grateful for. We had a lot of good ones this year, but these made me particularly happy, and grateful.
In late October the boys had a day off from school so we decided to extend the break and take a trip to Amsterdam. I had visited there twice back when I lived in Spain 18 years ago, and was excited to go back to see it again, appreciate the city's focus on design to which I was oblivious the last time I was there, and to experience the city through the boys' eyes. |
